So… on Tuesday 17th April we attended Newbury Racecourse along with Rachel Lambden from Heritage Estate Planning (also a semi-finalist), the other Venus Awards Semi-Finalists, not forgetting our number one fan Nici Strevens from Seventeen!
We eagerly approached the venue (not forgetting to take that all important selfie or two) and then came the butterflies.
The atmosphere in the room was electric as we took our seats for a gorgeous afternoon tea. I sat back and reflected on that moment, I felt so lucky to be in the room with so many inspirational women.
I then (in true me fashion) started chatting to the lady next to me, unbeknown to me that she was the judge of my category… doh/ eek!
Then, the dreaded (but very exciting) time came to announce the finalists. There were over 10 categories and we had no idea what order they were being called. Of course my category was the penultimate category and Rachel’s was last!
“The Prysm Group Networker of the year FINALISTS are…”
The first lady to be called was Amanda Ayres of The Business Girls Network… we all clapped…
“The next FINALIST is…”
ME … IT WAS ME!!!!!
It felt so surreal and as I made my way up to the front (apart from regretting sitting right at the back) I felt so proud and so happy. It takes a lot for anyone to feel proud of themselves but that right there was my proud moment, I had never felt this way before.
I am still on cloud 9 and I wanted to take this opportunity, not only to share my short story with you,but to thank you.
As, if you are getting this email you have helped my journey one way or another and it is because of all the wonderful people I have met along the way that has kept me going in business. So THANK YOU!
P.s Rachel also made it through as a finalist in the Business Mother of the Year category!
Huge congratulations to all the Thames Valley Venus Finalists and I am looking forward to seeing you at the FINALS!
